Ok, it's 2:00 AM and I can't not share these images with you. I have two galleries here. One for Mammoth Springs and the other for Grand Prismatic Lake. Both of these are icons for the Yellowstone Park. Even more than Old Faithful which we saw on the 23rd. Go see the awesome pics of the geyser and you will see why, but these locations are much harder to visit. the hike around Mammoth Springs was 3 miles of climbing boardwalks and stairs to see the entire system. It was a .8-mile jaunt each way into and then out of the Grand Prismatic Overlook. While thousands gather around Old Faithful for each eruption every 90 minutes, less than one thousand make it to Grand Prismatic Lake every day. A lot less.
So, I welcome you to our memories of the day. Mammoth was my bucket list item for the park. Rachel's was Grand Prismatic Lake. This was our last full day in the park, and we pulled out all the physical stops to make both hikes in a day. When we were done it was over 13,000 steps and 5 miles of total hiking according to GPS tracking.
